Pt. Pleasant Beach Town Hall,

1. Approval of January minutes

2. Budget update: Kitty to ask Kathy Beno for updated PPBSTC budget & to find out if town recived $3,000 grant money to pay for our FMP.

2. Endowment: Can we get paypal on our town website? Update: Yes. Pete to follow up w/ M. Ellsworth, & website designer. Discussion notes: O.K. w/ Povident bank. Put paypal on the endowment fund page, linking to shade tree fund. Will need to set it up so the money goes to the provident bank acct. Secretary of endowment fund will have to transfer money to provident acct. Pete to handle details of customizing it for our town.

3.To maintain our status as a commission we need an annual accomplishment report submitted to state before Feb. 15 of the following year(2010). Update: Kitty submitted it.

Hazard trees: Kitty should contact M. Ornsby to learn of trees with damged roots in town. Video: Urban tree Risk management. Grants: town can pay CMX to write them. Mike Ornsby knows “about 30” trees with exposed roots. Pete will volunteer documenting where these trees are. Suggestions: we can mulch to prevent mowing.

Forestry Management Plan: State Approved Kitty to forward approved copy to PPBSTC when she gets it from Todd Wycoff (state forester).

Tree City USA: We are considering applying for this status, as we already meet most of the eligibility requirements. Problem is that we need to show a per capita expense for trees. Pete suggested that is we add all of money our town spends on trees (public workers hours, etc), we may already meet that per capita expense of about $10,000. Can we do this? Sharon has this information. Who wil be in charge?Clem?

New Projects: a.sidewalk pamplet: To inform residents that sidewalks can & should be shaped around the tree trunk. Kittys working on it. (sharon to help)

Resident Gregory Cox asked us to review and comment on a proposed sub-division. Karen Mills has the tree plan for this (located inbetween Chicago & Baltimore). Hopefully PPBSTC members will attend the Bd.of Adjustment meeting for comments.

Arnold Ave/Endowment program.: WOW! $7,000 grant won: THANK YOU TO SHARON! Time to start tree removal & replacement. Small jobs would not need bids & easier for us to handle. Sharon: working on a grant from Ocean First Foundation . Discussion note: Kitty researched plaque costs, but was not able to find a suitable plaque that canot be easiely pulled up. However, it is critical that we at least get 2 trees removed and replaced (to use donations from Chris Albers & Sharon cadalzo respec.)How much to get grates and/or engrave pavers? Kitty met w/ Davies to use County Grant Trees. So far, Kitty has instructed davies to remove 5 trees on Arnold (infront of the bank of america offices), and replace with Zelcova (as per Anne Lightburns suggestion). Kristine to ask Sandy pasola about pavers. Kitty & Elaine to walk Bay Ave & look for appropriate planting sites.

Rt. 35 North/Bridge landing update :Clemens to report

American Liberty Elm: Planted! Kim to oversee this project: press conference/release, to fufill our grant obligation we must have a dedication ceremony and mount the plaque provided. Kitty left message for HS shop teacher to discuss students building a bench. Plaque:Elaine reported stone monument too expensive. Need alternative: maybe mount it on the side of the school.

New Ordinance: Kristine asked for comments before she introduces it. Kristine to email most recent ordinance draft to PPBSTC members.

Pete: List of Tree Committees in NJ. Is verifying & seeking email contacts. Update: Sharon to help with mail merge. Kitty will order phamplets
