Point Pleasant Beach Environmental Commission
April 30, 2008

Sunshine Roll call at 7:00 PM: Ben Dispoto, Paul DiPasquale, Kris Tooker, Pete Ritchings, Anne Lightburn, Sharon Cadalzo,

Guests: Steve Taylor of Manasquan River Watershed, Willie DeCamp of Save Barnegat Bay; Lois Jacobson of League of Women Voters

Motion to approve the March minutes was made by Pete, 2nd by Anne, all in favor.

Report: Open Space & Recreation Plan – last revised 5/2007. Also on website.

New projects - Environmental Commission scrapbook/album – need a volunteer to accept the project – Anne L may have most of the information

Treasury – in budget for $3000.00, we requested $2800.

Invoice from Jaeger lumber for the Osprey Platform - Anne will handle

No correspondence & no report from secretary

Council Report by Kris Tooker – shade tree ordinance? Waiting for draft from borough attorney
Animal committee – Alley Cat Group getting involved –Muskrat Jack dealing with geese

Recycling Report by Ben Dispoto– Jenks is making strides – meeting in next week or so - progress with St. Peter’s. The school will be initiating a program – 3 person committee of lay people – St. Peter’s wants and education program for start of next year - spoke to Mayor Hennessey about the igloos from the County for Silver Lake -Progress at DPW site – maybe finished by Memorial Day

Open Space – Anne – letters to council – letters of first refusal to waterfront properties on Channel and Inlet Drive – letter on restoration project (visions) – this month schematic plan of shade pavilion, etc for the inlet to get ready for donation – County is going to demolish building and do some hauling away of debris (in the fall) – Per Kris Tooker, Risden’s contract is on agenda for Tuesday’s Council meeting.

Earth Day poster contest-– 23 winners – completed – more from Antrim this year than ST Peter’s – Article to newspaper - $10 gift certificates to the winners from Hoffman’s ice cream- quite nice

No report from Planning Board as Tom Spader not here.

Osprey Platform – Pete - sightings on Gull Island, just perching – more prep work on LOL – Pair feeding over LOL

Anti Idling – sign ready – up at drop off/pick up at school
Inlet sign –Sharon - at printer – waiting for mock up -County Master Compost program, Sharon will scan and email to committee.

Meeting to adjourn at 7:31 for guest speakers to begin
