Minutes from the April meeting were reviewed and approved in absentia upon motion by Sandy Pasola and 2nd by Mary Lynn Ritchings.
Barrels and Gardens: Mulch is available. Some barrels have been replaced. All were reminded that itís critical to water all assigned areas. Plants should be fertilized once a month. Michelle canít do the garden near the Welcome Sign anymore. Discussed who would. Jacqui Reid and Sue Dietz will try to plant there, weather permitting. Maryann was assigned the four barrels near northern terminus of Arnold Avenue.
Flags: Had help putting large flags together at Womanís Club. The Borough Crew put them up.
Mulching: Put down mulch and paper in Butterfly Garden. Both Broadway and Bird Sanctuary have been done. Only Gazebo needs to be mulched.
Sprinkler Update: Old sprinkler company wasnít reliable. Charged us for blowing out the sprinkler lines but didnít do it and some pipes broke. Has since retired and sold business. Town hired person who provides service for the Board of Education and Ocean County. That person was given a list of all sprinklers and he will fix those that need it and maintain all of them Ė was instructed to water Beautification areas 4 times per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday).
Thank You Notes: Sent to Perks, who allowed us to dump mulch in their parking lot, and to the President of the Womanís Club.
River Avenue Garden Update: Will spend $600.00 to put in plantings once sprinkler system is repaired. Andy is trying to get someone to take down the pole.

Plantings along Road near Borough Hall (Municipal Way): Environmental Commission has a plan.
Budget Update: Were allocated $3,500 for operating budget and $2,000 for Boat Race/Parade. Spent $2,700 to date and the rest is allocated.
Dave asked about purchasing small flags now for next year as they are seasonal.
New Business: Elia suggested speaking to the Ocean Star about running an article on Beautification. She spoke with Kathy Miller, Rotary President-Elect about what Beautification does and about a possible donation from Rotary.
Discussed dead flowers, beat-up benches and Environmental Garden, near cell tower in parking lot, which is full of weeds.
Sandy weeds uptown and by trees Ė should get County prisoners to weed and cut off sucklings Ė if we ask for them now, we probably wonít get them until August. Barrel in Pleasure Park needs to be adopted. Dave suggested contacting the Administrator to see if it was adopted this year.
Dave reported about 2 dealers at Collingswood, who are growers with cheap flats. He has their names. Someone is needed to take over the job of plant ordering. Will discuss flower choices at August meeting and who will be contacting the growers. Barbara Favato is interested in joining the Committee. She will be invited to our next meeting.
Next Meeting: Committee decided to cancel June 27th meeting. Next meeting is scheduled for July 25th.
Public Portion: Opened, held and closed with no member of the public wishing to be heard.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:24 pm.
Respectfully Submitted, Maryann Ellsworth
