ATTENTION RESIDENTS AND VISITORS:

Railroad-crossing repairs begin this week
on Route 35/Sea Avenue in Point Pleasant
Necessary safety work will require road closure and detours
New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will begin a railroad crossing rehabilitation project that will require a week long closure and detour of Route 35/Sea Avenue in Point Pleasant, Ocean County.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday, April 20, until 7 p.m. Thursday, April 27, the two-way traffic on Route 35/Sea Avenue is scheduled to be closed at the railroad crossing between Charleston Street and East Street. The existing railroad crossing will be removed and replaced with a new concrete crossing and asphalt approach.
The following detours will be in place:
Route 35 South/Sea Avenue eastbound detour
Vehicles traveling east on Route 35 South/Sea Avenue will bear right onto Ocean Road/Route 88
Make a left onto Bay Avenue
Turn left onto Bridge Avenue
Make a left onto Route 35 North which becomes Sea Avenue
Route 35 North/Sea Avenue westbound detour
Vehicles traveling west on Route 35 North/Sea Avenue will be directed onto Bridge Avenue
Turn right onto Bay Avenue
Make a right on Ocean Road/Route 88, which becomes Route35/Sea Avenue
The traffic detours have been coordinated with the local police. If work is completed earlier, the roadway will be reopened accordingly.
In order to provide safer and smoother railroad crossing in Point Pleasant, the existing crossings will be replaced with new concrete crossings and new asphalt approaches. This federally-funded project is included within NJDOT’s railroad grade-crossing safety program which repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 30 crossings each year, statewide.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info.
