Beautification Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:08 PM by Gary Mecca

The following members were in attendance Mary Steiner, Dave Cavagnaro, Gary Mecca, Penny Mecca, Beth Cox, Sandy Pasola. Jacqui Reid, Jacqui Glass, Barbara Russell, Mary Lynn Ritchings, Donna Palsi, Sue Dietz, Andy Cortes

Minutes - Sandy Pasola moved and Penny Mecca seconded approval of last meetings minutes. Approved unanimously.

Motion for Officers made by Sandy Pasola to continue Gary, Jacqui as co chairs and Mary and Maryanne as co secretary. All approved

Christmas - Everyone pleased with what we had for decorations. Have enough garland and ribbons for next year. DPW will be asked to remove remaining greens from the barrels in the middle of March. Jacqui G to be reimbursed next year for wire used for the bows next year.

Budget update - Expect to get the same monies from the town this year as last year.

Project leaders have been assigned to lead each task area with support from Gary and Jacqui. Work calendar was passed around for the various tasks.

Flower Order - leaders Penny and Jacqui G will address gathering information and getting quote from Barlow's. Sandy will get two competitive quotes. Then order will be placed.

Barrels - Discussed what flowers will be used this year. Three lantanas and three vincas for each, along with dipladenia or mandevilla on a trellis depending on the cost.

Flags - Jacqui R and Barbara Russell to coordinate flag assembly at the women's club.

Team lead for Christmas decorations will be Jacqui R.

Team leads for Scarecrow contest are Mary and Sandy

Discussion of skateboard park, decided (vote of 7-4) to write letter supporting environmental commission position on location of the skateboard park not being in an environmentally sensitive area. Dave to write letter to Mayor and Council.

Reviewed list of Barrel/Garden assignments and work calendar.

Mary Lynn Ritchings notified us that there is a lecture on landscaping with native plants on Mar 15 sponsored by environmental commission. Planning April native plant sale.

Sue Dietz suggested getting together list of members birthdays, Gary to follow up.

Bay Head Landscaping has offered some possibility of helping out with beautification activities, Gary to follow up on what may be offered.

Meeting adjourned at 8:50pm.
