Meeting Discussion:

The meeting opened at 7:155 PM.

The minutes of the September 23 meeting were approved.

The Committee discussed the upcoming Tree Lighting ceremony. Last year the
Committee spent approximately $2K for the jumpy house, cotton candy, ball toss etc.
that the kids seemed to really enjoy. Andy Cortes will meet with the Chamber of
Commerce to discuss the Committee’s involvement (Committee does not want to take
over the Event) and also determine what their $5K is used for. Glen Paesano & Peg
Born will attend the upcoming Chamber meeting. The Committee then voted to spend
the same amount as last year.

Glen Paesano reported he had called Mayor Barrella and his trying to set up a
meeting regarding the Point Pleasant Boro’s new recreation center. He also shared
with the Committee a study that Manasquan did regarding their recreation facilities and
programs.

Matt Nagle reported that Dr. Ravally had agreed to provide extra gym time for the
Basketball Program (until 6 PM on Saturday nights). Joe Fitzsimmons was invited to
tonight’s meeting, but couldn’t make it. Matt believes the number of enrollees is
adequate to start playing in a few weeks after clinics and evaluations to set up teams.
Beach Graffiti will price the shirts at last year’s price of $7 each. Glen Paesano asked
Carol Vaccaro of the Chamber to try to get sponsors from local stores @ $100 each.
This would allow us to upgrade the shirts with sponsor names. Six have agreed to date.
Matt Nagle reported that background checks will cost $22 per person. The Police Chief
has suggested the Town Council ought provide additional money for this. Matt Nagle
reported on the background check practices of several local towns including Spring
Lake, Sea Girt & Avon. They range from no check to social security number to
fingerprinting. Andy Cortes will look into the capabilities of our Police Department in this regard.

Glen Paesano reported on the idea of a snow tubing trip to the Poconos. He will
look into fees. All agreed it was worth pursuing the idea.

The High School Principal has asked whether the School could have a bonfire on
the Maryland Avenue Beach for seniors at the end of the football season. It was
suggested the High School submit the proposal to the Town. If that doesn’t work, the Committee would be willing to host the event.

Glen Paesano spoke with Joanna Douglas about her interest in directing next
year’s Recreation Program. She will let us know in the near future. We also need a
summary report covering numbers, costs etc. from this past year’s program.

Andy Cortes is arranging for outside lights on timers for tennis and basketball at Pleasure Park.

The next Committee meeting will be Monday November 25. There will be no
December meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Maryjane Reilly
Recording Secretary
